CCL has had a proud past. Like the NCDC, it announced the beginning of the nationalization of the coal mines of India. National Coal Development Corporation Ltd. (NCDC) was established in October 1956 as a State Owned Company under Industrial Policy Resolutions 19 8 and 1956 of the Government of India. It originated from a core of 11 old state mines (owned by the railway) with a total annual production of 2.9 million tons of coal.
Until the formation of the NCDC, coal mining in India was largely confined to the Raniganj coal belt in West Bengal and the Jharia coalfields in Bihar (now Jharkhand), apart from some other areas in Bihar (now Jharkhand) and parts of Madhya Pradesh. Pradesh (now also Chattishgarh) and Orissa. From its inception, NCDC has focused on increasing coal production and developing new coal resources in remote areas and introducing modern and scientific coal mining techniques.
In the Second Five Year Plan (1956-1961), the NCDC was tasked with increasing production of new mines to be opened mostly in areas far from the already developed Raniganj and Jharia coalfields. Eight new boreholes were opened during this period and production increased to 8.05 million tonnes by the end of the second plan. In the third five-year plan (1961-1966), the company built a much larger production capacity, but it could not be used because of the domestic coal market.
Therefore, production had to be curbed and the development of several mines started at the beginning of the planning period had to be stopped. Gradually, NCDC’s share of the country’s coal production (67.72 million tons) increased to about 9.6 million tons. The gradual increase in coal demand was due to the commissioning of new power plants and the development of other coal-based industries during the Fourth Five-Year Plan (1969–197 ), resulting in NCDC’s output increasing to 15.55 million tons by the final year. . the fourth five-year plan. i.e. 1973-7 .

NCDC began foreign cooperation with countries such as Poland and the Soviet Union, in addition to limited cooperation with Japan, West Germany, and France.
The role of NCDC can be truly assessed by its contribution to the growth of new coal resources in the so-called marginal areas. The opening of new mines in Madhya Pradesh, Orissa and Maharashtra brought significant changes to those regions, creating new opportunities for industrialization and employment. The development of the Singraul coal mines brought coal almost to the doorstep of Northern India.
Through the development and application of advanced mining techniques, emphasis on design, engineering and research; NCDC was able to provide the infrastructure for the complete nationalization of the country’s coal industry through the introduction of modern mine management systems and enlightened labor market policies.

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Category – I Graduate Apprentices:-
- A Degree in Engineering or Technology granted by a Statutory University in relevant discipline.
- A Degree in Engineering or Technology granted by an Institution empowered to grant such degree by an Act of Parliament in relevant discipline.
- Graduate examination of Professional bodies recognised by the State Government or Central Government as equivalent to above.
- Some Universities/Institutes/Examination Boards do not award Class or Percentage of marks and allot Aggregate Grade Points (e.g. CGPA/OGPA/CPI, etc.). In case University/Institute/Examination Board defines criteria for conversion of Aggregate Grade Point into Class and/or percentage of marks, the same shall be accepted.
- However, where the University/ Institute/ Examination does not define criteria for conversion of Aggregate Grade Point into Class and/or percentage of marks, the Aggregate Grade Points shall be multiplied by 10 to get the required percentage of marks.
B. Category – II Technician (Diploma) Apprentices:-

C. Those candidates having qualifications equivalent to any of the prescribed qualifications should submit Equivalency Certificate issued by the competent authority and without such certificate, their candidature will not be considered.
