Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) is an Indian multinational oil and gas company owned by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India. It is headquartered in New Delhi.[ ] It is a public sector company whose activities are supervised by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. Indian Oil is ranked 1 2nd in the Fortune Global 500 list of the world’s largest companies in 2022.

It is the country’s largest state oil producer[6] in terms of both capacity and revenue. It has a refining capacity of 80.55 MMTPA, which it plans to increase to 107 MMTPA by 202 -25.[7] As of 31 March 2021, Indian Oil had 31,6 8 employees, of which 17,762 are managerial and 13,876 are non-managerial, while 2,776 are women, representing 8.77 percent of the total workforce.

Indian Oil’s business interests span the entire hydrocarbon value chain, including refining, pipelines, marketing of petroleum products, exploration and production of oil, natural gas and petrochemicals.[11] Indian Oil has invested in renewable energy and the globalization of upstream operations. It has subsidiaries in Sri Lanka (Lanka IOC), [12] Mauritius (IndianOil (Mauritius) Ltd) and the Middle East (IOC Middle East FZE).

History In May 2018, IOCL became India’s most profitable state-owned enterprise for the second consecutive year, with a record profit of ₹21,3 6 crore in 2017–18. In February 2020, the company signed an agreement with Russian oil company Rosneft to buy 1 0,000 barrels per day of oil in 2020.

By 1 April 2020, IndianOil was ready to introduce BS-VI (Bharat Stage VI) fuels and adopt world-class emission standards at all its outlets in Telangana.[17] In January 2021, sales recorded an all-time high of 10,000 barrels of oil per day until January 26, 2021. Delek, QatarEnergy, Saudi Aramco are its main business partners with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company and National Iranian Oil Company signing supply contracts for large production capacity at the end of 2020 In March 2022, Apollo Hospitals replaced Indian Oil Corporation in the Nifty 50 benchmark index
