Lady Hardinge Medical College Recruitment 2023 – 90 Jr Resident (Non Academic) Posts Apply Offline IndGovtjobs

Lady Hardinge Medical College for Women was founded in 191 to celebrate the visit of Her Majesty Queen Mary in 1911-12. Lady Hardinge, wife of the then viceroy, was the first to initiate the establishment of a women’s medical college, as the absence of a separate medical college for women made it almost impossible for women in India to study medicine.

Lady Hardinge laid the foundation stone of that institution on 17 March 191 . Sadly, that great woman died later that year and at Queen Mary’s suggestion, the university and hospital were named after Lady Hardinge to perpetuate her memory. the founder Lord Hardinge, the then Viceroy of India, officially opened the college and hospital on 17 February 1916. The close cooperation of the Countesses of the Dufferin Foundation Council continued for many years, and the cadre of senior teachers consisted almost exclusively of their members until Indian independence.

The college started under the leadership of Dr. Kate Platt, who was the first principal of the college. The duration of the course covered 7 years including 2 years of pre-meditated intermediate course or Punjab University. The pre-medical departments were closed in 1935, shortening the college course from 7 years to 5 years. In 1960, rotational job training for 6 months was introduced. The MBBS course was shortened from 5 years to .5 years, in 1969 a compulsory one-year internship was introduced. The number of first-year admissions was gradually increased from 16 per year to 60 in 1956.

In 1961 the intake was increased to 100 and in 1970 to 130. increased the number of graduate students to 150 in 2008 and to 200 now. :ee degree and advanced horseman in year. Since 1950, the college has been affiliated to the University of Delhi. The postgraduate course was started in 195 in collaboration with Punjab University and then with Delhi University in 1956. Initially, only female graduate students were admitted, but from 1970 both men and women were enrolled in various graduate courses.

Currently LHMC admits 1 2 PG candidates, seats in MCH Pediatric Surgery and seats in DM Neonatology. Since 1916, LHMC has only 80 beds in the departments of medicine, obstetrics and gynecology and currently the bed strength of LHMC is 877 beds Smt. S.K. Hospital and 377 beds in Kalawati Saran Children’s Hospital. A separate outpatient block was established in 1958 to meet the needs of Delhi’s ever-growing population.
