About PSTET 2023 – Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test Best Indian Government Jobs Apply Online
information & Society for the Education of Communication Technology (ICT), hereinafter referred to as PICTES, was founded in 2004-2005 to introduce compulsory computer education for all students in grades VI to XII. The program is a key catalyst in bridging the digital divide between students who face various socio-economic and geographic barriers.
In Punjab, the project is managed by the specially founded Punjab ICT Education Society (PICTES). PICTES is governed by the Board of Governors (BOG). Chief Secretary, GovernmentPunjabi is the President and the Secretary for School Education is the Vice President.
The Executive Director of the Training School is a member and secretary of the Society. In order to oversee the quality of education and the best performance of the equipment installed in this project, 5 district level project coordinators have been appointed (namely, Amritsar, Bathinda, Moga, Patiala and Jalandhar).There are five counties in the state and the county consists of four/five wards. As part of the ICT project, computer science departments were created for teaching the compulsory subject of computer science.
On the other hand, the non-teaching staff is also delegated to oversee the administrative activity and the proper functioning of the project. Computer labs were set up at 6134 Govt as part of the project. Schools (Primary Schools) and 346 Govt.Schools supported (secondary and high school). Computer hardware including UPS, software and LAN is installed in these labs. Broadband Internet access was made available to all schools.
