The Union Civil Service Commission (ISO: Saṅgh Lōk Sēvā Āyōg), commonly abbreviated as UPSC, is India’s main central recruitment agency for the recruitment of all Group “A” workers. Officers under Indian rule. He is responsible for the applications and examinations of group “A”. Positions of various central government institutions, including central public sector corporations and central autonomous authorities.
While Ministry of Human Resources and Training is the central recruitment agency in India. The Agency’s charter is granted under Part XIV of the Constitution of India entitled “Services of the Union and States”. The Commission is empowered by the Constitution to appoint the services of the Union and all the services of India.
The government also has a duty to consult the government on appointments, transfers, promotions and disciplinary matters. The Commission reports directly to the President and can advise the government through him.
However, this advice is not binding on the government. As a constitutional body, the UPSC is one of the few institutions that act autonomously and freely together with the country’s highest judiciary and, more recently, the electoral commission. The Commission is based at Dholpur House in New Delhi and has its own secretariat.
President of the UPSC since April 5, 2022 is Dr. Manoj Soni. Established as the Civil Service Commission on 1 October 1926, it was later converted by the Government of India Act 1935 into the Federal Commission Civil Service Commission. changes its name after independence to the current EU Public Service Commission.
