Srikakulam District is the extreme northeastern district of Andhra Pradesh and lies at latitudes 18°-20′ and 19°-10′ N and longitudes 83°-50′ and 84°-50′ E.Nagavali, Vamsadhara, Suvarnamukhi, Vegavathi, Mahendratanaya, Gomukhi, Champavathi, Bahuda and Kumbikota Jeddah are the main rivers of the district. The Vamsadhara River originates in the Eastern Ghats of Orissa and empties into the Srikakulam district of Bhamini Mandal before finally entering the Bay of Bengal near Kalingapatnam.
The Nagavali and Suvarnamukhi rivers also originate in the Eastern Ghats, while the Nagavali flows into the Bay of Bengal at the Vangara Mandal and at the mouth at Kallapalli near Srikakulam. The Vegavathi river originates on the Pachipenta hills and flows from west to east to finally converge at the Suvarnamukhi. The Gomukhi river enters Suvarnamukhi at Sirlam village in Vizianagaram district, and Mahendratanaya, an attribute of Vamsadhara, later enters the Hiramandalam Mandal Village of Komanapalli.
Another river from the same Eastern Ghats flows through the Mandasa and Sompeta Mandals and empties into the Bay of Bengal at Baruva. The Bahuda River also has its source in the Eastern Ghats, flows from Boddapadu village at Ichapuram Mandal to Srikakulam district, flows through Ichapuram, Kaviti and Mandasa and empties into the Bay of Bengal at Donkuru.The district has a sea coast of 193 km.
